Zebra - Denim Red

Zebra is a special silk hand dyed and hand woven fabric, which is known in Thailand as 'mudmee'. The word is translated from Thai as “tied threads”. Known in other parts of the world as ikat weaving, the Thai silk weft threads are wrapped tightly to resist the dye, creating a distinct pattern. The wrapping and dyeing of the yarns is done once for every color in the design, often several times for one fabric. The dyed and unbound weft threads are then carefully placed in order on bobbins and handwoven on narrow looms. The result is a beautiful, artisanal textile that features softly shaded patterns and luminous color.
